Echeveria in flower – en masse

Echeverias love to flower but the blooms are usually not much to look at. This echeveria is, however, a flowering sensation.

Now on sale – in bloom – at Ponsonby Plants… while they last.

‘Mt Tiger’ Aloe is said to be a mini-ature form of millotii aloe. With narrow leaves and long white stripes and teeth, it’s shown here in a large pot as a dense mound of interwoven leaves.

Simple photo but wonderful colour and form.

Nature’s little sculpture, in a porcelain Chinese dish, about 8 cm diameter.

Underwatering is key to getting this kind of colour, a product of stressing the plant.

Hand made mini-bonsai pot

Small but beautiful pair of succulents (Pachyphytum Compactum) in great little hand-made pot. Pot is maybe 6cm diameter. I like the geometric camouflage-like match between the stones (from China) and the plants, and the pot.

The two plants are carefully wired into the pot to ensure they don’t come out while they root into the soil.

This is another Mexican species, related I believe the Echeveria. See also, this post.
